As cellular telephone networks continue to expand, operators keep finding cost effective ways to improve network performance through increased capacity and better coverage. Achieving maximum coverage is often as easy as boosting the uplink signal from the network users cell phone, at the BTS (basestation). Appropriately installed Tower Mounted Amplifiers (TMA’s) also known as Masthead amplifiers (MHA’s), low Noise amplifiers (LNA’s) and TTA (Tower Top amplifiers) in the BTS uplink (receive channel) will significantly improve receiver system sensitivity when installed as close as possible to the receive antenna (particularly where cable losses are significant).
