| 4 Sep 06 - From Sue Short in
Knysna |
| We delivered the first batch of food
and toiletries this week. Magdalene was beside herself, so full of
gratitude for the assured continuity of food supplies and delighted
with the tooth brushes & toothpaste. It was a cold, wet day so photo
shoot was short. By coincidence the delivery was the very day she
ran out of gas - both bottles. There's a shortage of gas right now -
flood damaged roads hindering supplies add to the problems - we
called at all possible sources and your funds came to the rescue.
There were serious sighs of relief that a) funds were readily
available & b) we were there to run around finding gas. |

We were met at Nombulelo's tiny house with song and
tom tom accompaniment. It was humbling, I felt so emotional. They loved
the toiletries, such a treat. One lad said thank you in English. So
young, yet wise enough to speak in my language rather than his own.
Another humbling moment. The toiletries are so important in terms of
upliftment and self respect. It was a special day for Nombulelo too,
she's never had so much food in one day, an assured meal had arrived for
the next few days.
